Tibetan Monasteries

It’s challenging at best to get into Tibet, and there are many people who are not allowed in at all. I was lucky to have been brought into Central Tibet by the Drikung Kagyu Foundation to document the people and monasteries of their lineage.

Incredible, challenging, inspiring, heart-wrenching and stunningly beautiful are the words I would use to best describe our journey. I didn’t photograph the majority of the challenging aspects of Tibet – people say that it’s not wise to point your cameras at the Chinese military… My hope is that these images convey the depth and richness of the Drikung Kagyu people and their monasteries so that everyone who is unable to visit in person can experience them as fully as possible.
